Finance

The League of Friends is a registered charity and therefore exempt from tax on its income, all of which is applied for charitable purposes.

It is funded by the public, essentially by way of donation from individuals, companies and trusts. Most of the funding is a “thank you” for treatment received at the Centre from the Neurosurgeons. In other cases events are sponsored for our benefit, thereby generating invaluable resources for us.

Tax legislation encourages tax paying individuals to make these donation to the League of Friends under Gift Aid. We are able to claim from the Inland Revenue 25% of amounts paid to us, with no extra cost to the tax paying donors. Furthermore, higher rate taxpayers can actually reduce their tax liabilities. To obtain these benefits, the donor needs to sign a Gift Aid Declaration which can be downloaded from the “How to Donate” section of this site or alternatively please contact us via the “Contact Us” page and we can arrange for the form to be sent to you.
