My name is Brian Gubbin, I have been Chairman of The League of Friends of Hurstwood Park Neurological Centre, Haywards Heath since 1994.

When I took over as Chairman, I promised the Committee that I would take this wonderful Centre forward and upwards, this I am sure has been achieved with a lot of hard work, wonderful support from Patients, their Relatives and Friends. It now has worldwide recognition and is the only Operating Theatre for Neuro-surgery in the South East of England.

The Surgeons have benefited over the last few years with some amazing state of the art equipment, the Doctors and Nurses have received what they have wanted via 'Matron's Wish List' which is submitted to every Committee meeting and I am very proud of the fact we have not had to refuse any request so far.

The Patients have benefited with many comforts, albeit beds, pillows etc, blood pressure monitors and lockers in which to keep their personal belongings, the Relatives Rest Room has been totally updated with new flooring and furniture, for them to relax (if this is possible) whilst waiting for news of their loved ones.

The Gardens have been a great success, these were the brain child of my wife, Sue who has been a great help and support to me over these past years. I have said I will carry on as Chairman as long as I am wanted or until the Centre is moved to Brighton, this will not be for a number of years.
